The Bridges of Devon County

Last Friday 4 of us took the train to Plymouth and cycled the Devon Coast to Coast route to Ilfracombe to catch the boat back to Cardiff.

Its a 100 miles but because of the train times, together with the train companies policy of only allowing 2 bikes per train, [grrrr] we didnt start cycling until midday on Friday.

We stopped the night in Oakhampton on the edge of Dartmoor to split the trip which left 60 miles to do on Saturday.

The weather was glorious and just right for cycling. Whilst Devon is a hard county to cycle in with lots of short sharp steep hills, the scenery makes it well worth while.

  1. For some reason, I couldn't get the pictures, but what a wonderful trip you had train and bike.

I will come back later to see if the pictures come up.

    Have a great weekend.

  2. What a beautiful place for a ride. You must have had a great time! When you enlarge the photo it looks like there is a group of people waiting on the other side of the bridge. Maybe they were waiting to greet you! The path looks ideal for biking. I hope you show us more photos!

  4. 60 miles. 100 miles. You're amazing.

What a beautiful place to ride, though, the mileage notwithstanding. And the weather looks glorious. It looks like you had a great time.
