Vancouver

Posted by Picasa

Whilst in Norfolk we visited Kings Lynn and it was interesting to find out where the name Vancouver came from.

  1. I had no idea Captain Vancouver was born in King's Lynn...how interesting. He named many of the mountains, rivers and lakes in the Vancouver Island and mainland area. My hometown of Port Alberni was named after a spanish explorer, but I'm sure Captain Vancouver was around there as well. How neat to find a plaque about him on the other side of the world!

  2. Well, Marion said almost what I was thinking. Captian Vancouver is very famous in the Pacific Northwest.

  4. We have a Vancouver Washington, which isn't the same as Washington DC, this is most interesting indeed.
