Edinburgh

A beautiful city and quite rightly a world heritage city, so well worth a visit.  Even if it is a 900 mile round trip from Cardiff.  But we were there for a good reason.

These guys are on many a street corner and bring a bit of class to busking.

Many spires are on view, and can often be seen from unusual spots.

Off the roads are many of these alleyways which lead into some fine apartments.

O would some power the giftie gie us to see ourselves as others see us.
(O would some power the gift to give us to see ourselves as others see us.)
Robert Burns, Poem "To a Louse" - verse 8
Scottish national poet (1759 - 1796)
I think Burns forsaw this as feedback, long before it became a team management development tool..........................and here's his monument.

This quirkly little building is on the edge of Holyrood Palace.

A short bus ride from the centre is Portobello with its Victoria houses and a clean beach.

...............and our reason for the trip was our son playing hockey.  Wales didnt do too well, loosing to England and Scotland, but beating a Scottish Invitational XI.  But a wonderful experience.

  3. Beautiful photos Dave. I love the bagpipes...we had a gentleman in our church that played for parades, funerals and anywhere he was invited. Played for us when we moved to Southern CA....as the Penske Moving truck pulled out...friends and neighbors came to say goodbye, and there was George...playing his bagpipes as the truck headed out.....what a memory.

  4. I'm slightly jealous here, it's been so long since I've been to Edinburgh... I once stayed at a b&b in Portobello, it was so nice to be on the beach!
