Lacock Abbey, Wiltshire
It dates back to the 13th Century and was once the home of Fox Talbot the photographic pioneer. It houses probably the oldest photograph negative which dates back to 1835. The camera equipment in the museum ranges from the very early plate glass cameras through to today's equipment.
And some Harry Potter scenes were filmed here!!

Famous place indeed. I would love to visit there.

What fun in that distant time to take photographs, even if they took all day to develop.

A. Like most of the NT places they are well worth a visit, but often the problem is getting there by public transport. Its all ok if you have a car. Lacock is on the Wiltshire cycle trail, which is good.
DeleteWow, amazing looking place, we don't have that kind of "old" here so it must be amazing to tour it, the camera exhibit sounds very cool!
ReplyDeleteYou have a different kind of old there, the Algonquian people populated a lot of northeastern USA but weren't settlers, mainly nomadic people. In the southwest you have the Pueblo settlements. its different but equally interesting.
