Ireland - last pictures

The Post Office in O'Connell St.

Traditional Irish shops in Gallway.  Ireland has benefited from European Union funding and now has a much higher standard of living than when I first went there about 12 years ago.  The average wage in Ireland is now much higher than in the UK.   However this has come at a price but they seem to be getting back on track, although it doesn't seem to bother the ordinary person

Once a village necessity but now just a looked after feature.  Perhaps a reminder of what it was like!

A name thats known the world over.  At one time 8000 people worked in the brewery but now due to  modernisation of the brewing process the figure is about 800.

Away for a week or so travelling around Ireland, and the weather has not been too bad.  Rain yes, but not all the time.  I'll post some more pictures later.

Mike's birthday ride

Posted by Picasa
Mike is second from the left.  He's amazing, he cycle's most days and when he can't get out uses the turbo trainer in his garage.  We did about 60 miles on the Saturday, and another 25 -30 on the Sunday.  He led all the way.
What a role model.
