Somerset and Devon

A few days away in Somerset and Devon, and brilliant weather, which always adds to the fantastic countryside.

These are the sheep hurdles in Priddy.  They were getting ready for the annual Sheep Fair.

Some lovely lanes to walk down, very narrow and often difficult for cars, so no caravans or motorhomes here.

This is Verity by Damien Hirst.  It was controversial when first erected but has drawn loads of people into Ilfracoombe to view it.

  1. What great scenery! I especially love the coastline picture.

BTW, I don't want to give you a false impression about campground prices in the U.S. We work very hard to find cheap places. Private RV parks probably average $30 a night, so we don't go to them. Federal campgrounds are reasonable, and even better with the over 62 Golden Age pass. We also look for free spots on public land. (I had this mental image of you coming to the states, renting an RV, then being angry with me for misleading you.

  2. What a lovely road tour. Does it not make all the difference when the weather is nice? I always think that England seems a different country with sunshine.
