This is Cwm Darren Parc, outside Bargoed, in the Rhymney Valley. If you Google Earth this location you will see what it looked like whilst in the process of being landscaped.
Again a former mining area which has been landscaped. Now that heavy industry has disappeared, all the Welsh mining valleys have reverted back to what they must have looked like 200 years ago. I doubt though that it looked exactly like this, but its a vast improvement from 50 years ago.
An attractive place for a relaxing weekend or ideal to live us.
ReplyDeleteReclamation is a wonderful thing. After all the damage man has done to the earth, digging out her treasures, it's the least man (and woman) can do.
ReplyDeleteI'm going to check this out on Google Earth when I get to work - that computer is faster and bigger.
You are too kind about my photography. It was only luck that I got that shot of the weaving women's hands. My camera was on automatic.
Love this scene...provokes a memory of my girlfriend and I driving over the mountains down to the valley for spring break from college in a 1951 Chevy...we would roll down the windows and sing "We're going home though valleys green"
ReplyDeleteYou just made my day!! Thanks.
beautiful view ^^
ReplyDeletebeautiful! Misty and so green...
ReplyDeleteHow beautiful, Davem, and so peaceful.
ReplyDeleteI try to imagine how places here must have looked without the electricy wires, the houses...some were just wild fields with mangoes, no roads.
They cut down our forests here as we speak.
Beautiful! We've have an active mining reclamation project here. Its such a thrill to see that land that was strip mined to pure ugliness now sporting grass and little forests.
