........ it's on its way

Firstly Storm Eunice is scheduled to hit South Wales on Friday morning and warnings have been issued, trains cancelled and schools closing. I cant remember a red warning before this, but gusts of 70 to 80 mph are forecast.  So its batten down the hatches. The saying was that March comes in like a lion and goes out like a lamb so with the change in seasons being 2 to 3 weeks earlier thats about right.

Secondly other signs of Spring are here

Can frogs read a calendar...well these ones certainly have  a good idea, as the first frogspawn appeared on Valentines Day.

  1. H MY hope you don't suffer any damage from the storm wind is so scary. Prepare for a power loss that is normally what happens here. Spring is here as well I just took some daffodil shots for my post tomorrow...you're going to have little frogs all over the yard soon. That will be fun. HANG tight and be safe!!

  2. Hi Sondra I dont like high winds either, such a powerful force of nature. I always fear for those who live in the hurricane belt. Apart from securing your own property as best you can there's not a lot you can do apart from stay in and sit tight. So its certainly a day inside for us.

We do get a lot of baby frogs and the two goldfish also get a food bonanza, but it balances out. The advantage of having frogs is that they eat the slugs. All the best.

  3. Today is Friday, Dave and it has not reached us yet here in Kent - but it's cominmg, heavy gusts are starting and the trees start to bend. However, having lived through the eye of the 1987 storm (The "Great Storm") we are ready for anything less than that and hopefully it will not be as bad as that.

Batten down the hatches and keep safe old mate!

  4. We may be lucky here Avus if its a west / south wester as the hill opposites will give us some protection. The 87 storm was huge and Sevenoaks lost 6 of its oaks. The number of trees lost nationwide was enormous.
    Take care.

    1. It was very windy Mr A but we got off lightly compared to some. The only issues in the garden was the bird table and a potted shrub were blown over, I think we can live with that.

  8. Mr A, I have been in hospital since the end of Feb. and came hoe yesterday. I had a blocked bowel and they tried clearing it without an operation but in the end I had to have one. So very weak especially after not eating for a long time but very slowly getting some strength back.

  10. Mr A, apart from the operation cut there is hardly any pain now and hopefully the District Nurse will take the stitches out soon. Eating is now a priority but it's not easy when your stomach has shrunk so much.
